In real estate, it looks that we are constantly managing into troubles. It is unusual that a deal goes by with out some variety of hiccup. There are agents that cannot cope with these troubles and other folks cope with them really properly. So, what is the variance between these two agents?
I’m a huge believer that is it because of to how they each individual look at the predicament.
1 only sees the difficulty, the other sees the opportunity.
Lessons Uncovered EARLY ON ABOUT Possibilities VS Troubles
Some of you know, that I spent 22 yrs with House Depot and when I was a younger department head, I experienced this difficulty vs opportunity concept drilled into my head. While I listened to this stating typically, the initial time I essentially “learned” the lesson, I was managing the ceiling fan department. Not only was I in charge of the ceiling fan inventory, but also the regular oscillating admirers. Staying in southern California exactly where we don’t constantly have air conditioning, we offered the crap out of these admirers.
Now keep in intellect, I was in a department of four people. Myself, an older gentleman, this younger female and a man who felt he was constantly stuck performing the hefty function. LOL. The difficulty was, with so number of people, we seldom overlapped and typically labored on your own. Normally, I realized what freight was coming, so I could prepare and schedule appropriately.
So a person day, I’m functioning and all of a sudden pallet immediately after pallet of oscillating admirers starts to present up. Large ones, minimal ones, square ones, you identify it. The whole location was becoming above taken by these admirers. If I remember, it was one thing like forty six pallets of admirers.  All I could think about was what the heck was I going to do with all of these admirers?
My assistant supervisor just took place to be there strolling the plumbing department with that department supervisor. Now, keep in intellect, I think I was 21 or 22 at the time, so in a panic I go up to him and inform him we have a Big difficulty. I’m confident I was rattling off how awful it was, and how I experienced no strategy exactly where to place all this things and I was by myself, and going on and on and on. He just stood there staring at me.
Then calmly goes, Tammy, you don’t have a difficulty. You have an opportunity. Now, this was not the initial time he experienced told me this as I outlined. However, I also keep in mind considering, you may perhaps think it is an opportunity, but to me it is a huge Freaking difficulty. LOL
THE LESSON Uncovered
While I experienced no belief there was resolution to this substantial, ridiculous 40 pallet difficulty, what took place next, taught me two important classes that day. My assistant supervisor, gathered a number of other staff members from all around the retail outlet, arrived up with a gameplan on exactly where all the admirers would go and then we all designed some end caps, changed out the seasonal swing location and built a number of other houses all through the retail outlet. Pointless to say, by the end of the day every single pallet was taken treatment of.

Lesson #one- A Problem is Like a Puzzle to Be Solved
Even immediately after listening to my assistant supervisor say lots of moments that we did not have a difficulty, but we experienced an opportunity, I in no way pretty believed in my heart that this was legitimate. However, immediately after seeing how this substantial difficulty went away, I begun to realize there was one thing to his stating. Each and every difficulty seriously was just a puzzle to be solved.
Now, when I’m faced with a difficulty, each personally or skillfully, I glimpse at them in a different way. Considering the fact that I really like puzzles, I start to think of the a variety of remedies and how they could engage in out. I have been performing this for the previous 30 yrs now and I realize, how vital this skill has been to my accomplishment by the yrs.
So, what was the next lesson that I uncovered that day?
Lesson #two – Usually Keep on being Quiet For the duration of a Crisis
Recall how I was stating I was freaking out when I was chatting to my supervisor and he just stood there calmly and served me realize that we experienced an opportunity to resolve this difficulty? His calmness and his certainty served me calm down and believe that we would deal with the difficulty.
I recognized that in get for me to turn into a far better leader, I desired to master that skill. I desired to constantly remain calm for the duration of any storm that could current alone. And you know what? I think I have completed a quite darn fantastic job on this a person as properly. Want to know what the trick is? Acknowledging that every difficulty was an opportunity. It provides you a calmness that every thing will be alright.

Believe in me, when you make that switch to seeing every difficulty as an opportunity, you will make far better decisions. They are extra imagined out and they aren’t psychological decisions.  You could not constantly like the resolution but you will have the most properly imagined out respond to.
So, my challenge to each individual of you is to step back and next time you are faced with a difficulty predicament, fork out interest to how you not only look at the difficulty, but how you are handling it. Are you calm, cool and collected? Are you hunting at the difficulty as one thing to be solved?
