Home Staging Tips that puts you in charge!
When you make the decision to sell your home, your responsibility doesn’t stop there. Think of your home as a ship and you are the ship’s owner. No matter what happens, you are the one who is ultimately responsible.
So…what do you do?
1.Hire the right captain!
This is NOT the time to hire your cousin’s best friend who just received their Real Estate license.
Interview agents in your area who know your local market. Ask them how they plan to market your property.
Picking someone who suggests a list price that YOU want to hear is not the way to go.
2.Hire the right crew!
Let’s face it, no matter how well you keep your home, there will be items that still will need to be done. If you are not a DIY homeowner or don’t have the time, hire a professional!
Trying to save money by doing it yourself or hiring someone who’s “cheaper than everyone else” could come back to bite you in the behind later.
3.Invest in a Home Staging Consultation.
Get advice on what you need to do to get your home sold. Find out what paint color will work best for you, or what you can keep and what needs to go.
Home staging isn’t just about moving furniture around. A consultation covers everything from what buyers will see when they drive up to every area of your home inside, and then to your backyard area.
4. Be willing to listen to what the professionals you hire have to say.
Your agent will recommend a list price based on their knowledge of the current market and your area. They want to sell your home and get you the best possible offer.
You’ve hired them for their knowledge and judgment so listen to them.
If you’ve invested in a Home Stager or opted for a Pre-listing Home Inspection, listen to what they have to say.
5. How your home shows and is marketed is your responsibility.
Look at your MLS photos and review what is written. Make sure that your home is “show ready” for every showing.
Have all of your lights on and window coverings open when there is a showing.
It is your responsibility to make each showing count.
Remember, you are the one in charge when listing your home.
